CrossFit is my confidence boost before 8 AM!

Pim (33)
What I found at CrossFit Eudokia are closely involved coaches and a group of people from all sizes, ages and levels that supported each other. It is precisely what gave me the confidence I needed to step outside of my comfort zone and set PRs that I would not have thought possible.

It took me 96 times walking by Crossfit Eudokia before I had the guts to actually step inside for a No Sweat Intro. Even this 97th time I needed a small nudge from a friend to start my CrossFit adventure. The banner that said CrossFit, intimidated me a little bit because I always associated the sport with bulky, bragging, macho man that lifted weights and ran around. But what I found were closely involved coaches and a group of people from all sizes, ages and levels that supported each other. And it is precisely that that made me stick around.

After a few years of lock down, a pregnancy and c-section recovery, I was not in the shape I wanted to be. I wanted to lose some weight, but more importantly I wanted to be healthy. I lacked confidence in my physical capabilities. As a person I like to play it safe, also in sports. What I really love about the Eudokia Crossfit box is the size. All workouts are in small groups with lots of individual attention. This gave me the confidence I needed to step outside of my comfort zone and push my physical boundaries. Instead of adding one KG of weight, why not five? Since this shift in mindset, I have been able to set PRs that I would not have thought possible a year ago.

After a half a year of CrossFit, I was already in much better shape physically and mentally. However, everybody knows that a healthy body is both fitness and diet. I knew how to diet, (there are only a few diets out there that I haven’t tried since I bought my first ladies glossy when I was fifteen). However, what I had learned over the years is that losing weight is not the most difficult part, but actually keeping that weight off. If I didn’t want to spend my life as a weight loss-weight gain yoyo, I had to change my mindset. The lifestyle coaching sessions really opened my eyes. The problem was not necessarily what I ate or the fact that I ate too much calories, the problem lay in when I ate. This shift in mind set helped me mend my relationship with food.

Is CrossFit for everybody? Yes, I think so. You need to show up and put in the work. But this is exactly what makes it so rewarding. All the gains you achieve are because you pushed those boundaries. And when you go to the morning sessions you can have this confidence boost even before 8 AM! I am very happy that I started CrossFit at CrossFit Eudokia.
