If you want to downsize your sugar intake, you can eat less cookies. Here are three surprisingly different options for you.
The Dutch Diabetes Fund presented a petition to the House of Representatives to force food producers to reduce the amount of added sugar in products. Because too much sugar increases the risk of type 2 diabetes which makes us ages faster and unhealthier. The House of Representatives now wants to explore innovative technological solutions for replacing sugar in products. Fortunately, we do not have to wait for that. You can also take matters into your own hands with these three tips:
1. Do not freak out
You do not have to avoid all sugar. Your body needs some sugar to function. It is our fuel and it is in fruit, among other things. Sugar is not a poison. Sugar is not necessarily bad, but too much sugar is. Just like too much of any other product!
2. Recognize your food
There is an easy solution to lower your sugar intake: minimize food that is wrapped in plastic, in a bottle or a tube. Try to eat food in its natural form and shape such as an apple instead of apple sauce. If you cannot recognise the initial product anymore, avoid it.
3. Do not be fooled
Do not be fooled by health claims, such as cakes in which the sugar is replaced by so called natural sugar from dates or honey. It really doesnt matter if the sugar is natural or articifial, to your body it is all the same. And a cake is still a cake.
