The biggest thing that I'm proud of is how far I've come mentally

Klarka (23)
Since starting CrossFit I have learned an incredible amount about my body and how important it is to develop methods on how to clear your mind so your body can do the work. The biggest thing that I'm proud of is how far I've come mentally. CrossFit is helping my heal my anxious relationship with movement.

Before starting CrossFit I had patterns of going to the gym consistently for a maximum of a month and the ultimately losing motivation to continue. I often felt mentally blocked and was afraid to push myself to discover my true potential, which was an incredibly frustrating feeling that was affecting my relationship with my body.

I knew that I wanted to commit to a healthy lifestyle, but this meant that I couldn't ignore the mental aspect of exercise anymore.

It took me two months before I was able to get the courage to start with the On Ramp Introductionm Course. This is because I had a skewed sense of what CrossFit was which I didn't consider myself a part of. Not only did I not think I was fit enough but I also didn't think I was strong enough mentally. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up the pace and that I would break down. I know now that your pace is your own and even if you cry you will be fine, just pick up the weight and keep going.

When I started at CrossFit Eudokia it was "Positive Word Month" where our focus was on how we interact with ourselves during training and consider our goals. This is where I was able to recognize how essential positive self talk is to my training and since then it has become a key aspect of my ability to push myself. That month I began to learn how to separate myself from the negative thoughts that would come up during training, which would usually be my reasons to quit. I realized I had to unlearn a lot of restricting thinking patterns I had unintentionally created over years of on and off training. The first couple weeks were a big challenge, but it meant that seeing progress in myself really felt incredible.

Since starting CrossFit I have learned an incredible amount about my body and how important it is to develop methods on how to clear your mind so your body can do the work. Training is a never-ending process and now I feel like I have a very good base to build on.

I am now physically much stronger than when I started, but the biggest thing that I'm proud of is how far I've come mentally. CrossFit is helping my heal my anxious relationship with movement.
