I learned it is about how you deal with pains and aches and still stay active, when you're not in your 20's anymore. And I recovered from long lasting shoulder issues, can do a strict pullup and work in my garden again!

I've exercised all my life, but my shoulders have always been my weak point. I've injured them at a young age, playing tennis and volleyball. Moving furniture several times in my life also did not help😉. I had many physio treatments without much lasting result. The problems with my shoulders made it increasingly difficult for me to stay active without the fear of hurting myself again. Some days I even could not work in my garden anymore, one of my biggest hobbies!

Through a friend I ended up at CrossFit  Eudokia. It was with some skepticism that I started Personal Training with Meyken. Weekly training sessions and homework.

Her approach was pretty straight forward: We do a starting assessment, see where you are right now and what you want to achieve, what your strengths are and what can be developed. She was also realistic and direct: No guarantees that I would never get any symptoms or struggles again. On the other hand, there were guarantees that I would become stronger and healthier, have a lower risk of recurring of my injury, and that I would learn how to take care of body and make smarter choices during sports and in daily life.

Step by step I became stronger and learned more about how my shoulder and in fact my whole body functions. In the process we've figured out what works and doesn't work for me.

I learned that pains and aches are inevitable especially since I am not in my 20s anymore. An injury or set back can never be 100% prevented. I learned it is about how you deal with it, by staying active and taking good care of myself with a positive mindset. All very valuable life lessons I learned during my Personal Training Program!

And really great: Not only did I become much stronger and fitter, but I also had fun, learned new skills and got better at pullups. Strict Pull Ups with strong shoulders! And, I can finally work in my garden without any issues!
