Hangry!

Meyken Houppermans
Founder and Head Coach
Are you a hangry? Eat your protein first, and then the carbs. So first eat a bowl of dairy and after that a piece of fruit. Why?

You become hangry when your blood sugar level is low because you have not eaten for a long time. To prevent this situation from taking too long and thereby damaging your brain (yes this can happen), your body releases the hormones adrenaline and cortisol that raise your blood sugar levels. However, these hormones also cause substances  released in your brain that activate feelings of anger, irritation and  impulsive behavior.

By first eating the proteins in your meal and after that the carbs, your blood sugar level will be more stable than when you would first eat the carbs. The more stable, the better!
